Photography Pricing: What to Charge in 2026 (Portrait, Wedding, and More)
6 min read·Updated June 2026
The short answer
Portrait sessions typically run $150 to $800, and weddings run $1,500 to $7,000 depending on coverage and what is included. The biggest swings come from the type of shoot, the hours of coverage, and how many edited images and products the client gets.
Typical prices by type
- Mini portrait session: $100 to $250
- Full portrait session: $300 to $700
- Elopement / micro-wedding: $800 to $2,000
- Half-day wedding coverage: $1,500 to $3,000
- Full-day wedding + second shooter + album: $3,000 to $7,000
What changes the price
- Type of shoot and hours of coverage.
- Number of edited images delivered.
- Prints, albums, and digital rights.
- A second shooter, and your experience and demand.
Package and upsell instead of pricing per hour
Sell the session or the wedding as a tiered package with a set number of edits, then offer prints and albums as upsells. For weddings, design three packages so the middle one is the obvious choice, and always take a non-refundable deposit to hold the date.
